Indonesia Visit Visa Can Be Extended, Foreign Visitor No Longer Need To Worry Anymore

Various cultures, natural beauty, and culinary in Indonesia have increasingly attracted foreign tourists. As you may notice that in every year, the numbers of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia Indonesia keep growing. Data from the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia shows growth as much as 11,63% in 2018 compared from the previous year.
Every Tourist must obtain visiting visa prior to visit Indonesia, except for the citizen of counties that already have free visas facility or country that entitle to apply visa upon arrival or also known as Visa On Arrival (VOA).
Visit Visas can be granted to foreign tourists or visitors for: tourist visits, family visits, social affairs, or for the purposes related to art and culture, government duties, sports which is non commercial, comparative studies, short courses and short training.
In addition, visit visa also applicable for business meeting or business discussion, purchasing goods, giving lectures or attending in seminars, attending international exhibitions, meetings held by head offices or representatives in Indonesia, continuous trips to other countries and joining or connecting transportation in the territory of Indonesia.
Visit stay permit is applicable for 30 days stays period upon arrival in Indonesia, and cannot be extended. So, how if the foreigner tourist or visitor need to stay longer for unfinished matters? Should they leave Indonesia first?
Now we can answer firmly without doubt for that question. First, when you enter Indonesia, you should make sure that you already apply and obtained VOA type visa.
VOA is granted at the first time by Immigration in the immigration checkpoint. The VOA is valid for 30 days from the arrival date evidenced by the arrival stamp at the entry port. Pursuant to the Article 12 and Article 14 of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 27 of 2014, the VOA can be extended one time and valid for 30 days from the expiry date of the initial visit stay permit. The VOA extension can be processed at the local Immigration Office, therefore, with this facility foreign visitors no longer need to leave Indonesian territory in order to apply extension of VOA.
